Each year, VISION Magazine hosts an award ceremony to celebrate the best and brightest in the window covering industry. This year, at the 28th Annual VISION Design & Workroom Awards, nine WCAA members took home an impressive fifteen awards!

As a prominent member of WCAA, and an active member of the Atlanta Chapter, Beth developed lasting relationships with many fellow WCAA members, including Michele Williams, founder of Scarlet Thread Consulting. In 2016, Michele had the pleasure of sitting down with Beth and discussing Beth’s experience in the industry. This interview has never been published, and we’re extraordinarily grateful for Michele’s allowing us to share it with you today, in Beth’s honor.

Michele has been a member of WCAA since 2007 and is one of the few certified Profit First coaches in the United States! In addition to coaching, Michele hosts workshops, provides online training, and also offers educational seminars on a variety of business topics around the country. She talks to us about her experiences with WCAA and how her membership has influenced her career!

On her Sew Much More podcast, Ceil spoke personally to past winners of the scholarship, getting their take on the application process, the things they experienced as scholarship winners, and what advice they have for those who are still on the fence.

October is National Window Covering Safety Month, an important safety initiative supported by the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and safety advocates to alert parents and caregivers about the potential strangulation hazards to young children from window covering cords.

This month, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution recognized our Atlanta Chapter for their efforts in raising awareness for breast cancer and giving back to local breast cancer patients and survivors. Since 2008, the WCAA’s Atlanta Chapter members get together annually to sew Anti-Ouch Pouches for cancer patients. These pouch-like-purses are donated directly to cancer centers in their area. Local companies helped them reach their goal by donating Velcro and batting to the worthy cause.

“When I took on this job, I knew it was going to be a large job. I knew I was going to have to put in some serious effort to complete it in three months, and I knew that it meant everything else in my life would take a back seat. Originally, I thought I would farm pieces of the job out. …Eventually I saw piles of completed drapery stacking up and just kept moving through the orders. By the time I was more than half way through, I realized, I might just be able to do this entire job by myself. And, that’s exactly what I did.”
